Not because I want to be a DJ’s but because I wanted to get some appreciationg for the art of DJing. (By this time the doctor has diagnosed my for a slight case of Gear Acquisition Syndrome). Last year I got interested in how DJ’s actually work and out of curiosity I bought NI’s TRAKTOR with the X1 and Z1 kontroller.
SONAR X3 MIDI MONITOR PRO
History repeated itself and for a while I only used Logic Pro X. And of course, who uses Apple uses Logic. It is so light, starts up so quick, the screen is so sharp, it is more stable. I decided to finally make the switch and got myself an Apple Macbook Pro 13″. Ironically I saw an interview with Ilan Bluestone who stated that he use SONAR, two weeks before my ‘brand new’ HP laptop died. In all those Youtube tutorials I watched you never saw anyone using SONAR, at least for the type of music I was making.

In 2013 I got myself Native Instruments MASCHINE with the MK2 controller. I used a simple pair of SONY headphones.īecause I was not quite happy with the handling of rhythm patterns and samples in SONAR I started looking for something else. First a BEHRINGER Xenyx X1204 USB mixer, then a set of Kurzweil monitor speakers. To take with me on holidays I bought a Behringer UMA-25S keyboard. The collection of hardware grew steadily.

Soon I was expanding that software package to SONAR X3 Producer. I started with the entry level version of Cakewalk’s SONAR. It all started in 2010 with a Yamaha PSR S-710 keyboard, a simple MIDI interface and a windows laptop.

Working in iMovie to create a movie clip for a track which did not exist yet but would later be titled Flour Factory.

I could not survive two weeks of holiday without it. " To live without my music, seems impossible to do" During holidays this is my setup: a laptop with Logic, a 25 keys keyboard and appear of headphones. He brought me pair of KRK Rokit 6 G3 monitor speakers in my shoe! No homestudiuo is complete with them. I use a 12 channel Behringer X1204 USB mixer with build in sound card and a pair of Beyerdynamic DT 770 headphones. Believe me: it is more difficult than you think.
SONAR X3 MIDI MONITOR PLUS
Just to experience what it is to DJ I got myself these kontrollers plus TRAKTOR software.

The integration with the Native Instruments software is very good. Before that I was using a Behringer UMA 25S keyboard but I wanted to have something more solid and more keys. I like the workflow and I like to turn some real physical knobs from time to time. I really don't want to re-align audio manually.I started working with MASCHINE in 2013. Play back all the tracks with the MIDI data being set to Addictive Drums 2 (hopefully having SONAR X3 compensating any latency issues)ĭoes this sound possible? I know recording guitars over a programmed MIDI track with AD2 in the play back works great and all I'm suggesting is my existing process in reverse (knowing a MIDI/Synth controller is a lot different than a mic'd tube amp). Record my "drum" performance sending the MIDI data to the DAW track and direct monitoring from the KORG. Use a backing track made up of rhythm guitars and a click track. This controller has built-in sounds, including drums. My idea is to use the Korg Triton Taktile MIDI controller to perform the drums. With no room for drums but the desire perform on every track please let me know if this should work before I drop the money. My performance is not audible through the DAW (hence zero latency) and while I do play off Addictive Drums 2 (using programmed MIDI tracks) it's my understanding SONAR X3 (and other software) realigns the audio at the playback stage to remove any latency between raw audio and VST's. I want to record zero latency drums BUT use the same technique as recording zero latency guitars as this method just works 100%.įor guitars I mic up my cab, set the Focusrite 18i8 to direct monitoring and hit record. I've been researching for hours for an answer to my question and so far no
